Stichting Afrikaanse Vrienden heeft de officiële ANBI-status in Nederland. Maar wat betekent dat precies – en waarom is het belangrijk?
ANBI stands for’Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling'. It is a designation assigned by the tax authorities to organizations active in the public interest. To qualify, a foundation must meet stringent requirements, including:
- Have a clear public mission.
- At least 90% of her efforts devote to the common good.
- Maintaining transparent financial reporting.
- Ensure that board members work without personal gain.
For donors, ANBI status means that their contributions are eligible for tax deduction under Dutch law. For the foundation, this means meeting high standards of governance, accountability and transparency.
At Stichting Afrikaanse Vrienden we are proud that we meet these standards. Our board works on a voluntary basis and the majority of all donations go directly to projects in Kenya – from school fees to vocational training and support for children's homes.
The ANBI status is more than a label. It is a commitment to do good – open, reliable and with lasting impact.
